Have you considered joining the local road runner's club/track club. I lived in Alexandria for a few years and ran w/ the Northern Virginia Road Runners. They meet a few times per week. I know you're thinking "They're way to fast for me", but there really are runners of all levels that participate. Give it a try, what do you have to lose? Besides NOVA, I believe there was a group that met out near Reston or Leesburg. Check out the road runner's club's webpage or ask at your local running store (I think fleet feet is near you)
