I think it's a fair comparison. My sources say that the relationship between the speed of light in a vacuum and the speed of light in air is 1.0 to 1.0003. You're right that I didn't adjust for this. But I think it's a reasonable approximation for this purpose to say that light travels at "about the same speed" in air as in a vacuum.
However, I'm sure that I would travel much more slowly in a vacuum.
Thus, if the comparison is unfair, it's unfair to my advantage (maybe this is what you meant?). So I'm over 100 million times slower in air and even more slow in a vacuum.
I liked it better when I was just 115 mm times slower....
