If you want a fast fall marathon that wont completely thrash your legs, try the Top of Utah marathon in late September. It's held at Logan, Utah, in the Blacksmith Fork Canyon. You drop about 1000 feet, maybe more, marathon, with a few bumps. Boston Qualifyer, good support, really cute finisher's medals and age group awards. Weather can be tricky, so semper paratis. I ran it in 2000 and saw lots of white stuff. But I also ran a PR in the snow, so....
You never know.
