Hello, posters! I wanted to provide an update on what has happened since I posted my initial question. I got a new pair of shoes and did some serious carbo-loading the 2 days before my first half marathon this weekend. At the start line, I also stretched for double the amount of time I usually stretch... about 20 minutes.
For the race itself, I held myself back and ran more slowly than I normally do. At the finish line, I felt no discomfort and actually felt pretty fresh... like I could have kept on going for another 5 miles or so. I'll definitely keep up the good habits of proper nutrition and stretching and will replace my shoes more often. Thank you all!
