Wearing Shoes

I have been running now for almost four (4) months and cannot seem to sustain more than 1.5 miles during any training run due to foot pain. The pain results from either the frigid cold, sometimes I pick up a nail, or just pebbles between my toes. I have been running in Tholo -lite mini crews. My question is wheather or not you think shoes would make the diference. If I should be wearing shoes, which brand, what size, etc. should I be wearing? I saw the advertisement in Runners World where a runner ran a marathon in Thorolos and thats where I got the idea. Could it be that I need the crew instead of the mini-crew? Please advise. Thanks in advance for your help and guildance! Randy
