I also love the method. Running is not so scary when you can take a break from time to time.
For my first 5k, I was determined to run the entire distance. I was soon at the back of the pack. I passed a few walkers, only to be overtaken when they decided to run again. They ended up finishing before me(35:44). I felt great for running the 5k, but I can now see how taking short breaks can allow me to run better and longer. Someday I will RUN a marathon, but I'm not ready yet. For now, I'm happy to just get out there.
I'm training for the Disney Marathon in January. Waddle on!
