Ollie, Like Rob, I also am an advocate of the treadmill. I keep it at a 3% elevation and vary the speed during the workout. I have the remote controls for my stereo/cd changer mounted on the handle-bars (using velcroe) so I can vary the music. But...I do like to run outdoors during conditions that you described. I find that as long as it is not sheer ice (especially on a downhill), I'm ok. If there is an inch or so of snow, it provides good enough traction that you should be fine...but for those days when outside just is not an option, go for the treadmill! Bambi
