Pain in liiac crest area

I usually wear Nike Air structured triax and have for the past 10 years. I do 5 marathons a year. Foolishly I bought a pair of Nike Free shoes. I did a 5 mile track run and next day a ten mile track run, a day off, then another 5 miler on the track. After that third workout I felt a little pain in what I'd call the left love handle. I stopped wearing the shoes and a month later ran the Detroit marathon and at mile 25 got a stabbing pain in that left love handle area. It is a pain that is located right on the iliac crest. It is tender to touch. The pain does not involve my back or legs or hip joints but that area right at the tip of the iliac crest and not anywhere more than an inch away. What do I have and how do I get rid of it? I haven't run since Detroit, Oct 21. Next race is Feb 3. What muscle/tendon is that? Should I stretch the area or just keep resting?
