I found that walking at water stops works best for me. Just get the cup and run through the stop until your out of the way of other runners before drinking. You'll spill less and drink more thereby eliminating late race dehydration. The short walk tends to reenergize me. I've found that I easily catch back up to those who run past me and have usually left them far behind by late in the race.
