I'm looking to keep racing and improving my shorter distances (5K to 1/2 mary), while at the same time I'm eyeing the Okanagan International in October. I think that in the early going of the marathon training, I might try to do my long runs in the middle of the week, while still racing on the weekends. I figure that'll be my speedwork, so I don't think that doing the short races will compromise my base building all that much.
So, short term, my weekends are: 5K race, 5 Mile race, ~10 Mile leg in the Kananaskis-100 relay, Edmonton Festival Half-marathon, Canada Day 15K race. All the while, I plan on starting my four-month training program. I'm thinking of doing the Running Room program, since I'm familiar with it, but does anyone have a better suggestion?
