I'm hardly an expert. (Zeke: where are you?) However, the marathon training schedules are based on the premise that you can run approx. 12 miles per week without problem. Can you?

Your taper schedule sounds reasonable, on a 16-18 week training schedule, which is typical. I don't know if there's such a thing as a nine-week training schedule, particularly for someone who doesn't sound like they're much of a runner to start. That being said, have you started your training yet? How's it going?

I suppose what you're proposing isn't impossible, but it doesn't sound like a great idea.

Is there another marathon near you that you can run in four months time instead of two? I'd seriously reconsider.
