That is an nice training equation, Dr. N, but the correct constant is 26.2.

If I read the equation correctly, it says to forget all the 4, 5, and 6 day nonsense about optimal weekly training. Forget mpw. Forget hills and speed.

The important days for the first 11 weeks of a 16-week schedule are the rest days. All one needs to do is to maintain the one-mile base for the first 11 weeks.

Then about 5 weeks before the race, start the 10% increase per day. Finish the last day of training with an actual marathon. Brilliant. Perhaps even publishable if you can get enough peer review at this site.
