ankle pain

Not a sharp pain; dull and persistent. I've had it a little over a week. Doesn't interfere with running or feel any worse while running. Just throbs while I'm sitting here at my desk, and when I "draw circles" in the air with my foot to warm up my lower leg. Feels like it might be tendon/ligament inflammation, right at the front of the ankle. Like the kind you get if you tie your shoes too tight. Only I don't do that.

Ice not working. Heat, gentle massage, then ice and ibuprofen not working. Rest plus all of the above not working. Hoping it's not anything serious. Maybe just taper-related pain? I have a marathon this Saturday, so I'm in the throes of taper madness.

Your diagnosis? Possible causes? Suggestions for treatment?
