Phyllis, I sometimes just use one of those belts with a bottle. Good news is that the bottle doesn't bounce that much, especially when I turn it so that the bottle is at the front. But, for the really long ones, I need a route that goes by a water source as I use more than one bottle for runs greater than 15 miles or so.
I also have one of those "bladders" that you can buy. It is ok, but the extra weight from so much water is annoying to me. Also, you need to find a comfortable place for the tube and "bite valve". The bladder is easy enough to clean; just take it out and run water through it.
