So I didn't really know what was going on the first few weeks I was having issues with it, and I tried to press through it (stupid move on my part, I know). This was during winter break so I was at home (NoVA area) and I go to school in Indiana. I was cross training once I realized that resting for a few days just wasn't going to cut it, and I NEEDED to do something.
So now I'm back at school and have been doing the same routine every day for the past two weeks: heat, stretch, foam roller, cross train (recumbent bike, or elliptical), stretch, ice. (Core/weight work in there, too, but mostly upper body with the weights).
After two weeks of doing that, I'm running for like 5 minutes at a time, and the pain still comes back. Also, I've had my IT band scraped twice, and had ultrasound treatment twice. So here are my questions:
1. Is the cross training hurting or helping?
2. How do I know when I can start running again?
3. Can I do strengthening exercises while I'm injured, or do I have to wait til I'm fully healed?
4. Anything else that can "speed up" the healing process?
Thanks, in advanced!
