Pacing - Picked up by the bus!

Disney Marathon - Feb 8. Pacing on time but started in the second to last corral. Crossed start line nearly 50 minutes after the 5:30 AM "official" start. At mile 18, was still pacing under 16 minute miles but was forced to stop. I would have finished in under 7 hours. CRUSHED! See tonight on posted race times that the slowest runner/walker finished in 7 hours and 41 minutes - much slower than I was pacing. WHAT GIVES? I am crushed! A year long goal slipped away - I was the first person stopped at the 18 mile marker. I only had 8 miles to go and was kicking (walking) butt! Can anyone explain this or at least pacify my awful feelings about this "loss"?
