Boston is the reward

You didn't mention if this was your first chance to run Boston. Also, is this something you have strived to qualify for a long time or is it a race you are pretty certain you could requalify for in the future? If you have already run it then I would agree that the most important thing is for you to properly take the time to heal and get strong to requalify. If this is a "once in a lifetime" situation then you could still consider participating in the race if not 100% healed, just scale it back and enyoy the incredible experience. Remember many runners look at running in the Boston Marathon as the reward for all the hard work to qualify. They have proven their merit and now are just there to enjoy the moment. It is an off the chart life experience and if you can justify a way to participate then I say go for it. Good Luck hope to see you there.
