Sunbeam's post raises a question. How can NYRR's Mary Wittenburg ($510K salary) and Ann Wells Crandall ($340K) continue to expect people to volunteer to work their races for free? Is it presumed that their time is worthless? Meanwhile Wittenberg's now taking home 2x as much pay as she did 5 years ago. Must be nice. Especially in the trough of the longest economic downturn in 80 years. And for those who wonder how well NYRR manages its finances, just imagine forking over "less than seven figures" for a revised club log.
