Hi Howie, I think your question is a good one. It doesn't say if you did your 8 marathons over a long stretch of time or not. The short (but vague) answer is it depends. It depends on whether you've been lifting before, and whether you've had injuries to name two variables. My personal experience is that I do a full body strength program about twice a week. I like to do abs and legs one day, and upper body the other. A point is to not hit it too hard (too heavy), to the point of risking injury, or sapping too much energy that should go towards running, your real goal. It's best if you start lifting before you start your mileage build, and don't be afraid to skip a day or wrap it up early if you're feeling off or if it's in the taper.
