I rarely wear the shirt because it's so big. But I have a jacket from 2000 and 1996. I wear both of them and damn right it's a status symbol! Wearing a Boston Jacket to another race's expo is the penultimate for many runners. I must admit, I did like the sideways, awe filled glances at the Disney expo.
It's also fun to find other people who've done the same race. At Disney, I had some guy come up to me and say "Nice Jacket." He was wearing the exact same one! Off topic, but at the Ok city marathon last april, I bumped into a gentleman with a Maui Marathon shirt on. Both Mom and I were wearing our Maui shirts and people were asking us if we were related.
Pity about the shirt. I have a feeling you'll get yellow this year. And the yellow is bright enough to get anyone's attenion! That means I'll likely get another white shirt next year. Oh well, I'll just have to buy another jacket.
