Three months is a long time to be away. Your body won't bounce back quickly enough to race the Half unless you have been doing alternative training in the interim. (Some people apparently have tremendous success with pool running. I find the prospect incredibly frustrating and boring.)
If you tell yourself you are just going out to enjoy a great run, happy to be back, then you can be satisfied with the result whatever it is.
Rushing the training makes no sense. Even if you allowed only a ten day taper, that gives you only two and an half weeks of hard training, and you're just back. Don't injure yourself trying to do something unreasonable.
