A few more ideas

I feel for you, having experienced a bad motivational bonk that completely stopped my running a few years back. Learned I need to feed my motivation, just like I need to feed by body.

Zeke had some good ideas about how to do that: "Swapping info w/ others, sharing long runs, speed sessions, a post-workout breakfast..."

Here are a few others that have helped me:

Read about running. (Websites, books, etc.) Change the routine. Run in different places, learn new routes — trails, hills, canal paths, etc. Choose a new goal that excites you. Road marathons no longer exciting? Try a trail race. Etc. Watch an inspiring running video. Track your progress. Needn't buy an expensive GPS watch (though they can be helpful) — a simple training log will do. Noticing little improvements can be exciting. Don't underestimate the importance of rest. Get enough sleep; alternate hard and easy workouts/weeks; keep life balanced.

Here's to a great 2011.
