Hello, My name is Austin, I am 19 years old and a student at Chico State University in California. I am currently working on a semester-long project on a community of my choice. I have always been interested in someday competing in a marathon so i chose the running community (specifically marathon runners) as my community of research. I need heaps of research for my final project and I figured what better than first hand research. I was hoping I could interview members of this website about their experiences in marathon running. If you could take a little time to respond to my questions it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Questions: 1.Background: 1. How long have you been running for? 2. On a scale 1-10 how would you rank your running experience? 3. Whats your fastest mile time? 4. How often do you run? (Per day) (Per week) 5. Whats your favorite part of the sport? 6. How did you become interested in running? Motives: How would you classify your motive behind marathons? (Psychological, Physical Health, Social, Achievement) 1. Psychological: (Self Esteem, Life Meaning, Psychological Coping, Understanding ones self) 2. Physical Health: (Health Orientation, Weight Concern) 3. Social: (Affiliation, Social Recognition) 4. Achievement: (Competition, Personal Goal Achievement) 5. Charity Specifics: 1. How successful is this motivation in propelling you though the marathon? 2. How important would you say a good mentality is in completing something as challenging as a marathon? 3. What gets you through the toughest times of a marathon? 4. What would motivate you to run another marathon? 5. Do you have any advice for someone planning on running their first marathon?
Thanks Again! -Austin
