Duh -- I think I wrote "flutter" and meant "dolphin" in one of the previous posts -- brain dead.
I hear you re boring sets. I've started doing increasingly silly things as change of pacers. As in, going as far as I can underwater (ESPECIALLY with the fins on).
When I tuck my chin "in" (tho still as if I have an orange btwn my chin and chest), so I am looking at the far deck, it becomes such an abs-engager that I am cursing too hard to be bored :-)
The vertical work (egg beaters, etc.) is also really good -- tho you do have to have a lane you can do it in without disrupting other swimmers.
Sorry about your shoulder Ollie -- I feel for you -- I really have a problem there. It's b/c my stroke is somewhat cramped -- there is a really super website for swim coaches that has all SORTS of fantastic drills, etc. -- I want to say it's something like swimcoach.org -- got some great advice off it. (It's for swimming and water polo coach use -- but the articles are in a public area.)
