Since it didn't rain, we came up with a new invention :-) We run with some dark chocolate "kisses" in our fanny packs -- and as we were doing the run 2x (there and back) we had some out and were running past some other runners who were not so "provisioned." (As I said above, we were basically the "Conestoga wagons" of the race *smile*)
So Herbert took some of them out, held them in front of this couple of girls (who were sort of flagging, and "teasing" us re our chocolate) and said to them "run for it! run for it!" They ran up and grabbed it. We figured that we might want to jerry-rig a little hat with a rod and a chocolate bar on it -- the nouveau version of the "Carrot and the Stick" approach?
