HR during speedwork

My favorite speed workout is 5K on the treadmill after a 1m warm-up. Although I push through the last mile, I love it and recover pretty quickly. I've noticed that by mile 3, my HR is over 170 (95% maxHR). Is it ok to run a mile or so at this HR? Can running at over 90% max HR for 5K do any harm?
