NYC Girl: You know, that's a really good point. I hadn't actually thought of that -- but you're quite right -- the body is an amazing "adapter" so to say. (I also think that the fact that the last, oh, 5+ miles were in the pitch black added to the "mystery" of the whole thing, so our minds were otherwise engaged....*smile*)
Re orthopedist: Wonder what he would have said re naproxin. One of my running partners actually said that (re ibu before starting out) -- she is the one who gave me the ibu when I was hurtin' on the 18 miler (probably at about mile 12 or so), and said that she "wish she had thought" to give me one at the beginning (when she takes one).
