I just returned from a visit to the friendly Orthopedist. I wanted to see if there was anything he could recommend to avoid my IT Band problems once I crank up the mileage for another try at a marathon.
He recommended taking Ibuporfen 20 to 30 minutes BEFORE running. According to him, Ibuprofen does wonders for preventing inflammation but is not nearly as effective as reducing the inflammation once it starts. Moral: Don't wait to pop those pills.
