basketball (IMHO)might be one of the worst things you could do post marathon. Jumping and sideways motion on legs that have been pushed close to (or past) their exhaustion point. I'll agree with Howie on 'rest' but I would say active rest would be better, walking and easy jogging... but that was before you hurt yourself, and YEAH, it was the basketball as you said you felt fine up to that point...so treat this as a SERIOUS injury, no running till all the pain is gone... if you are compensating while you run you are in PAIN, just too stubborn to admit it..been there, done that and once I realized that I was hurt, it took about three months to get better...and I had to use massage, accupuncture and ended up with orthotics...don't wait till you do anymore damage, take care of yourself now... -Rita
