...just that I'd rather be out of the "fray." If FrontRunner doesn't want to see me (and my posts to people who I don't know, so can't find any other way), or be on a board with someone who is trying ~absolutely~ her hardest she is able, but ran (this weekend) 20 miles in 4:20 (ending in the cold, on a pitch black road in the country with the moon way out -- but that's a whole other story), then I'd just as soon be "down here." Maybe that's the difference -- maybe the board has to have a "newbie" spot -- where people can egg each other on, be friendly, etc. -- and then the "hard core" spot. I have read more and researched more on marathoning in the past 1/2 year than on anything else (even for my job). Therefore, I believe that I have a lot to contribute (at least, from research, even if I can't do the Yassos in blinding speed, etc.) as anyone else. So maybe that belongs on one board. But if there is no separation for "someone like me" and I get blasted for trying to cheer on other people trying to make a goal of something that was ~impossible~ (in my mind) back 1/2 year ago -- then I don't want to play the game.

I understand that someone who fights their guts out and gets under 3:00 (or whatever) might feel that this is a "mightier" thing than someone who fights their guts out and gets under 5:30 (as I would like to). But when I was fighting for my country back in Desert Shield, and blew my knees out, it didn't matter that I was the team leader and the "best" at what I was doing -- my team had to carry me out. Same as I would have done for the grunt bitchin' and moanin' every day about everything that we had to do -- when it came down to brass tacks, we were there for each other.

That is what I felt I had found here -- but instead, I find a situation where there is a serious amount of segregation, or, where people WANT there to be segregation (different color medals; etc.) So be it. That is not the game I am here to play.

So, I'll be down here -- except you are right, I ~did~ have to jump in when Will asked if anyone knew 3 American rowers. Being an ex-rower, too, I couldn't let that one lie.

The rest -- I can take it or leave it. It's a shame -- but I don't want to be somewhere where I'm considered some sort of "second class, second *ss" citizen.

Thx for writing Ollie.
