I do find the Garmin to be accurate - I also have an older version that was accurate BUT often had trouble finding the sats and was therefore not so good on the trails I was running on. The newer ones are very good. (I have checked them with google maps.) Not sure about overseas but would think they would be good. I would check the Garmin web site. They also have a great web site that tracks and maps all your runs. http://connect.garmin.com/
