Does anyone know anything about this condition and how to prevent ? I was diagnosed with this after running CIM last year - ws trying to BQ and hit the wall at 20 miles, ended up barely crawling to finish and was doubled over wiht cramps and had blood (lots) in stool .. saw GI doc and he diagnosed as ischemic colitis (blood shunted from colon to other organs) He couldn't help much exept to say "slow down if it hurts" .. well to a runner that is not acceptable .. I was OK for a while and then it happened again at a Half Marathon (San Jose RNR) ..mile 8 was on pace for PR and then crashed .. obv. I can't go out too fast .. also have figured out my calorie intake in form of Hammer gel needs to be sooner than I used to take it (mile 4 seems to ehlp) I always hydrate 2-3 oz/mile .. HAS ANYONE HAD THIS CONDITION and if so what can I do ???
