You have expressed a desire to "run" a marathon and then asked whether it was okay to walk during the marathon. I have seen people walk at a pace to bring them in under 4 1/2 hours, but race-walking is its own challenge. I have never walked a marathon but I have done a half, never breaking stride. For me, it was a challenge to get under 14 minutes an hour. If you really want to train to walk a marathon, your time commitment is likely to be greater than if you plan to run one.
You will see lots of people planning to do 10 & 1s, walking for a minute or so every 10 minutes. Just remember to start near the back and don't create unnecessary challenges for people.
Have fun whichever you decide.
