Well, I had arthroscopic surgery on my hip. The doc actually fixed three things - I had synovitis (tight, inflamed joint), FAI (femoacetabular impingement), and the labral tear. Apparently he did "extensive" debridement of the labrum.
I'm on crutches for 6 weeks, and started PT the day after the surgery. I have been told that I will probably need PT for 3 months. I am looking forward to the day when the doc says I can run again.
So, my original plan was to start training for the Flying Pig in January with my running group. Don't know if that's possible now - depends if I am allowed to run. I will have lost all of my base mileage by the time I start training again. So, maybe I'll just do the half in May, and make my goal marathon Columbus (since I already have an entry for that one).
We'll see. In the mean time, I'm just trying to stay positive, and keep the weight gain to a minimum (which will be hard - I gain weight by being in the same room with food). If I don't, I won't have any clothes that fit...
