Here's an update. I went for my doctor's appointment last week, and got a cortisone/novacaine shot in my hip with a flouriscope (x-ray so they could find the correct plce). The doc said that if the pain was truly joint pain, it would immediately feel better from the novacaine. Well, it does feel a lot better now. I still haven't run, though. I "jogged" across the street to the atm machine the other day, and it was very painful.
One thing they also told me is that the difference in strength between my right and left leg is immense. I have a long way to go to get my right leg equal to my left. I can tell too, because I run very lopsided. That leads me to believe that I have been injured for longer than I originally thought. I mean, you don't go from a 20 mile run (done the saturday before I fell) to the muscle imbalance that I have in just one month.
So I go back in two weeks for a follow up visit - and we will talk about what's next. He did mention something about 'scoping it out, which I'm guessing is an operation. I have a feeling that's my next step, then some physical therapy before I can run again.
But, in the mean time - all of this not running has made me realize just how much I love running, and just how much I love to run well. I haven't run well all year...
