I would appreciate some experienced marathoners advice.
Its 8/27 and I would like to run the Mt. Desert Island Marathon on 10/18. Is it possible?
Im in decent shape and have been running about 5 miles 3x/week plus weight training pretty consistently. I ran the Big Sur Marathon at the end of April but trained (responsibly) for that (with Hal Higdons novice program) for almost 4 months. This will be my third marathon (also ran miami in 2005).
By way of background, I had considered training for this race months ago, mentioned it to a friend and then decided I didnt have the time/ motivation to train. Well, meanwhile the friend who I mentioned it to continued to train (apparently I never mentioned that I had lost interest). Now I feel a little more inspired to train and a little guilty about leaving my friend to run it alone.
Im just interested in finishing and not interested in my speed at all.
