I'm training for my first marathon. Last Saturday in the morning, I collectively ran about 13 miles, which is probably about as far as i've ever ran training wise. I for the most part stayed off my feet as far as running until Monday at 6pm. Everything was feeling fine until then. About a mile into my run, I started feeling "puffy" in both sides of my soleus. There was no actual pain; the best analogy I can give is that it felt like I was playing volleyball while squeezing my arm muscles as tight as they could go. I tried running tonight, and the same thing happened, albiet less than Monday night. There has been no actual pain, just a feeling of extreme tightness and no flexibility around the soleus. One personal trainer guy I talked to said it was a lack of potassium or electrolytes, but i'm doubting that after tonight's run. I can still technically run on it, but it's not feeling good and loose at all when I do. Also as a quick note, my achilles tendon feels incredibly tight compared to the other leg, although the actual feeling isn't necessarily coming from there. Any insights?
