hi all
I just wanted to advise new runners of listening to your bodys when training.
i am a new runner around 5 months into running and building upto a Marathon in Mexico City.
I am a advicate to listening to your body, and when pains start to creap in i either cut short my runs or change the exercise.
i recently ran a half marathon which went well. My next weeks training i felt a pain in my ankle so i had to cut short my base runs. this lasted a few days. When i got checked by a doctor as a precautionhe told me i was lucky. The tendons in my ankle where swollen and had to take two weeks off from running. If i had continued on my runs it could have been alot worst.
i was disapointed because i had no training for a couple of weeks, but then i realised i could still train through weight traing and focus on core strength for a few weeks.
the morel of this story is train hard but pay attention to what your body is telling you, if you do pickup an injury don't get too disappoint, just look of other areas to train.
happy running
