Lucia, I thought I'd start a new thread specific to treadmill running. I have had the same issues with my tread as you have. Paces that I naturally run outside very easily felt FAST on the treadmill. Mine is not even a year old yet and I suspected that it wasn't calibrated properly. So I've been wearing my Polar RS800 (it has pace and distance on it that's very accurate) while on it and found out that 1.)The odometer is off (by as much as a quarter mile by the time I reach 6 miles) and 2.)The spedometer is also off. The pace gets closer to being accurate the faster it goes but is at least 10 seconds per mile fast by the time it hits 8:30 pace. Obviously I'm not sure if that's a problem you're experiencing but it could be a factor. I have resigned myself to either wear my Polar every time I'm on the treadmill or run according to percieved effort. That wouldn't work for me if I were going to do intervals but for an everyday run I would trust my PE. Bambi knows an awful lot about treadmills but he hasn't been posting at all in a number of weeks (months?), maybe he'll come out of retirement to give you his thoughts...
