Just participated in the San Diego Rock n' Roll. Great experience!
At the finish, I picked up a bunch of snacks and started munching on a dense, bagel-like bread stick. I noticed that the muscles (are they muscles?) on the roof of my mouth started cramping up. With each chewing motion of my mouth, the roof of my mouth was in pain. I also had a banana and trail mix within twenty minutes of finishing, but these caused no pain.
Today, not only does the roof of my mouth feel sore, but so do my tongue, cheeks, lips, and those muscles under the chin. I'm wondering if it's because I was smiling a lot or maybe because I was chewing on a Starburst candy at one point during the race??
Does anyone know why my face and mouth are sore and when they might go back to normal?
