Katya, there is already some really good advice for you here. Rita's suggestion of pinch the cup and drink is a must if you are fast. In races, I always walk through the water tables and drink that way. I found it just wasn't worth it. That's just me. For training, what you might try is a small sip early on, before you "think" you need it, and stay hydrated by taking small drinks periodically. There are various products for you to wear that will accomplish that, or you could carry a small water bottle (I do). If you use the Galloway "walk-run" method, you can take a small sip each time. That method has helped me in Florida, where it can be tough to drink all the water your body really needs on a hot day. If you need more help you can email me. Good luck in your training. Tim
