"Great Marathon" (about: 2020)

| 1 Latonka Marathon
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 After all the other marathons I registered for were cancelled, Mark Courtney and the Runner's High created this one. It was five loops around Lake Latonka, Mercer County. Very flat with one minor hill. This was originally intended only for people running the Virtual Boston Marathon but they opened it up to anyone and I signed up. They had a 'Citgo' sign near the end. 2020 was really a bad year for running marathons and I thought my 19 year streak of running at least 1 per year was over but this event kept my steak alive! This was intended to be a One and Done Event but if it is held again its worth doing. Not too many spectators but those that were there were very enthusiastic!

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 Mark Courtney (race director for The NOTSOB (Boston spelled backwards!)) put together an awesome marathon in the midst of a really awful 2020. He went above and beyond to give us a fantastic race. Great course, flawless organization and timing (including timed splits for each mile), fantastic swag and post food offerings. If it is offered, I will definitely run this race again.

"One of the highlights of my marathon career" (about: 2020)

| 1 Latonka Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This race was put together so that runners could have a certified, timed virtual Boston. It was small but had the BEST organization, communications, spectators, and volunteers. I've run 40 marathons (including 16 Boston Marathon finishes) and this ranked near the top of my experiences. Route was great- five loops of flat/gently rolling hills. Community was awesome. Race Director THE BEST! |
