COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 The coastal path is as scenic at it is hilly. Definitely not a PR course, which was good because I had no problem stopping to look at the views. Course marshals were great, and there were more than enough aid stations (with sponges and bananas). Scones and tea at the finish line, as well as a post-race massage, made this my favorite marathon so far. When you go, make sure you give yourself at least a couple of extra days to explore one of the most beautiful parts of the UK. As for the fans: You'll have plenty of alone time, especially on the 2nd half, which I enjoyed, but where there are fans along the course, they're awesome.

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 4 The course is fantastic, but really steep and sometimes uneven which makes it hard. The weather was great, sunny hot, but again this made it hard. The organisation was wonderful water and jelly babies everywhere. The Cheers kept you going, even when exhausted, thanks!!!

First Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 Ran the 1/2. Fantastic views and diverse terrain. Great water stops. A few traffic jams on the uphills. Can't expect too many spectators out on the trails but strategically placed spectators along the course and in towns kept you going. Loved the cream tea at the end! |
